Muriel B. Cowan, 92, of Duluth, Minn., passed away Nov. 30, 2004 at her residence. She was born in Duluth on Nov. 15, 1912 to Hyman and Etta Josephs. Muriel graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1930, and went on to attend college at M.I.T. She had many civic interests which would include participation on many boards such as the St. Luke's Hospital, St. Louis County Historical Society, and the Depot Foundation. She was also a member of Temple Israel for many years. Muriel was a very courageous woman and a devoted sister. Muriel was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Cowan; parents; and her sister, Sylvia Burger of New York City, N.Y.; brother, Irving Josephs of Los Angeles, Calif. Muriel is survived by her brother, Arthur (Adrianne ) Josephs of Duluth; a nephew, Dr. Howard Josephs of Two Harbors, Minn.; niece, Susan Josephs of Duluth; and extended family. She will be deeply missed by her family and many dear friends. GRAVESIDE SERVICE:2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004 at Temple Emmanuel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to St. Luke's Hospital or a charity of personal choice. Johnson-Crawford Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

Muriel B. Cowan, 92, of Duluth, Minn., passed away Nov. 30, 2004 at her residence.

 

She was born in Duluth on Nov. 15, 1912 to Hyman and Etta Josephs.

She will be deeply missed by her family and many dear friends.
